Assalamu Aleykum,
Many sisters have asked me to give them more ressources in order to learn about Fiqh and following a Madhab and the reasons why we do so.
Some people would argue that, in following in a Madhab, we're going astray from Quran and Sunnah, others say "Just pick the Holy Quran and books of Hadiths, and you'll be able to understand and interpret them on your own."
Here is a lecture of Shaykh Abu Yusuf Ryadh Ul Haq, refuting those arguments and explaining in details Fiqh is necessary (therefore Madhabs are necessary), for us to understand Quran and hadiths.Hope this will benefit anyone interested in the subject InshALLAH!
Salams my dear :)

Alhamdulillah I'm glad my blog can be beneficial to other sisters worldwide.
I also wish we lived closer so we could meet, but alhamdulillah for the internet which has allowed us to get to know each other. And we might meet in Bangladesh someday, who knows :)
Lot of love to you and the kids.xxx
JazakAllah khair. It was a really interesting lecture mashAllah. I think i never really heard before the opinion of people who believe we should follow a madhab so all your posts, video, "debate/talk" with another sister in the comment and reply to my questions and links gave me a lot of new information and food for thought. Please continue sharing nice lectures with us:)
ReplyDeleteMay Allah guide all of us to the straight path. Ameen.
Take care,
Allah Hafiz
Alhamdulillah I'm really happy you liked the lecture, and as I said to sister Bonnie, Alhamdulillah I'm so glad my blog can be beneficial to other sisters!
DeleteInshALLAH I will definitely continue sharing those great lectures which I really enjoy myself.
Ameen to your dua!
Assalaam Alaikum sister :)
ReplyDeleteMasha Allah, you have a lovely blog. There are lots of stuff to see through! :)
This lecture sounds interesting and I'm curious to know what the Sheikh has to say. From what I've learned, the madhhabs are necessary, but we shouldn't stick to one in particular and ignore the rest.
The thing is that each madhhab has a slightly different way of deriving fiqh rulings and various legal principles. But all four of them use the primary sources of the Quran, the Sunnah and the rulings of the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs.
Different people are different, and one may like a ruling by Imam Hanbali over one by Imam Maliki. This does not make one right or the other wrong. It's sort of like having two different approaches to solving one problem. And we can select the one that is more preferable to us and also choose the one with better daleels.
What do you think? :)
Assalaamu Alaikkum,
ReplyDeleteThe lecture is interesting. But I would cling to sis x@hu's opinion. When it comes to selecting Madhab, there is no specific ruling to select them. If at all we're afraid of 'whims' selecting one madhab out of four is again according to our whim...:P Isn't it? Otherwise, how should one select Madhab without whim?
All imaams were eminent scholars, none of them were right/wrong, and none of the are great over another. So, we can never call one as non-believer just because he deosn't follow a particular Imaam, but keen enough to understand and learn all of them!
